1500-2000 words due before thanksgiving
-Establish effort/reward complexes as potentially self destructive (reason for video games, tv, movies, books, over outside play)
-Explore psychological effects of spending childhood being told what to do (cite concept of positive reinforcement, classical conditioning). due to far higher stimulation to effort ratio, video games are seen as more fun than playing outside by children and thus they spend much of their formative years playing them. Video games are all created to be played in a certain way and there is no deviation - you can't turn doom into a top down turn based resource management game (without years of programming experience)
-a lack of creativity is engendered, and more notably (on a wide scale), the child is more and more conditioned to go along with suggestion.
-an example of this child psychology manipulation is more and more visible, in the short term at least, in many AAA games being released today. 'loot boxes' are a design trend in which the consumer will buy, separate from the price of the game, a 'loot box' that has a chance of containing some rare cosmetic items or other gameplay relevant items in it [flesh out explanation]). These 'boxes' hit directly on every classical gambling psychological hot spot. They manipulate children into early gambling addiction in an entirely unregulated environment. Precise numbers are hard to find, but estimates on how much money companies make on loot boxes range in the millions. The UK gambling commission has made statements indicating a willingness to regulate them, but many other governmental bodies across the world have broadly had reactions ranging from ignorance to apathy.

-A childhood spent being told what to do results in an adult easily molded and manipulated.
-Topics to cite: [91% of all elections in america are won by the better funded candidate] [~90% of american media is owned by six companies, who are run by six people] [66% of congress, 41% of house members are millionaires (that we know of)] [the welfare of ordinary citizens are considered immaterial in almost all bills] re-find sources
these facts point to a reality where anyone who wants to wield direct power over the american people must simply direct money and favor to one of the six people in charge of american media, who will then win the person's election using manipulative news and selective showing of information to make people's choices for them.
manipulation in action: pathological fear of terrorism reinforced every day by the news- in reality the odds of being killed by a terrorist are 1 in 3.6 million, 9/11 inclusive. Your odds of being killed by a terrorist attack committed by a refugee is 1 in 3.64 billion and those committed by an immigrant are 1 in 10.9 billion. For comparison, your odds of being struck by lightning (fatally or not) are 1 in ~1.1 million. Many remember news stories of thousands of tanks are bought as the military repeatedly requests not to get them,
an estimated ~4 trillion dollars spend on fighting it
This renders a common citizen a secondary priority at best, and a vote a simple representation of the fact that money changed hands higher up-- a receipt, some degrees removed.
